We would like to introduce the SPA membership to a new special interest group (SIG): The SPA Well-Being Special Interest Group. The inaugural meeting of the Well-Being SIG was held February, 2020 in the Bahamas. The purpose of the Well-Being SIG is to promote a culture of emotional, physical, and psychological well-being amongst SPA members by providing resources, support, and connections.
SPA Wellness SIG meeting at #SPABAH2020
The SPA Well-Being SIG will act as the focal point for wellness efforts directed at the SPA membership via annual meeting program content, workshops, and leadership development. Pediatric anesthesiologists who are healthy and resilient are best able to serve their patients and families.
The SPA shares a responsibility with its members to support the needs and to protect the longevity and health of our subspecialty. This SIG is intended to inspire collaborative efforts amongst individuals, organizations, health systems, and other members of the profession. Our goal is to honor the collective commitment of pediatric anesthesiologists to our patients and their families, to each other, to our own families and to ourselves.
If you are interested in being part of the Well-Being SIG please email Norah Janosy and Rebecca Margolis. Please include if you have any expertise in well-being and what working group(s) you would be interested in joining. Current working groups are website development, fellowship curriculum development, needs assessment, and communication. We are committed to collaborating with and serving the SPA membership in the true spirit of well-being; we welcome all those who would like to participate.
