Dr. Aditee Ambardekar earned her medical degree from The University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2004. She completed anesthesiology residency at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at The Childrenâ€™s Hospital of Philadelphia. She joined the faculty at UPenn and CHOP in 2009. Dr. Ambardekar became interested in simulation-based education and graduate medical education very early in her career and earned a masterâ€™s in education from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2014, she joined the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. As the only pediatric anesthesiologist at Parkland Hospital, she developed expertise in pediatric burn anesthesia. Dr. Ambardekarâ€™s leadership roles include Residency Program Director and Assistant Designated Institutional Official in the Office of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Ambardekar is a national education leader. She sat on the Anesthesiology Review Committee at the ACGME and was the Chair of the committee from 2020-2023. Dr. Ambardekar is an Applied Examiner with the American Board of Anesthesiology. Most recently, Dr. Ambardekar participated on the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiaâ€™s Task Force on GME and led the group through a national consensus building initiative to assess and redefine aspects of pediatric anesthesiology fellowship, including new case log requirements, effective July 2026. Dr. Ambardekarâ€™s academic interests include simulation, graduate medical education, and pediatric burn anesthesia. She curates pediatric anesthesia content specific to education for Pediatric Anesthesia Article of the Day. She is proud of helping her late colleague and mentor, Dr. Ronald Litman, publish the 3rd edition of his book, Litmanâ€™s Basics of Pediatric Anesthesia. When not at work, Dr. Ambardekar enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.

Dr. Odinakachukwu (Odi) Ehie, MD, MAEd is an Associate Professor and board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist with a deep commitment to medical education, global health equity, and inclusive excellence. She earned her medical degree from the University of Wisconsinâ€“Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her anesthesiology residency at NYU Langone Medical Center. She subsequently pursued fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology at Stanford's Lucile Packard Childrenâ€™s Hospital, where she also led global health education initiatives focused on perioperative care and capacity building in Vietnam. Dr. Ehie currently serves as Vice Chair for Opportunity & Outreach in the Department of Anesthesia at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she leads departmental efforts focused on community, opportunity, recruitment, and engagement. She is also the Head of Clinical Skills Curriculum for the UC Berkeleyâ€“UCSF Joint Medical Program (JMP) and Faculty Director of Student Support for the UCSF School of Medicine, where she plays a key role in mentoring and advising medical students across all stages of training. Her educational leadership is grounded in both clinical expertise and pedagogical trainingâ€”she recently earned a Masters in Education from UC Berkeley with a focus on equity-centered curriculum design and learner development. Nationally, Dr. Ehie is the Chair of the Global Health Outreach Committee for the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) and serves as Vice Chair for Community, Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement (CORE) for the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA). Biography of Judith A. Jones, MD, FAAP, FASA Dr. Jones is a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Nemours Childrenâ€™s Hospital, Delaware, and is a Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Jones earned her Bachelor of Science (Hons) and Medical Degrees from the University of the West Indies at the Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica. She completed internship in Jamaica and worked as a House Officer in Anesthesiology at the Bustamante Childrenâ€™s Hospital and the Kingston Public Hospital system. She completed Anesthesiology Residency training at the University of South Florida. This was followed by Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship training at the University of Miami. She is board certified in General and Pediatric Anesthesiology. Dr. Jones is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA), the Delaware Society of Anesthesiologists (DSA), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Florida Medical Association (FMA). She practices primarily at Nemours Childrenâ€™s Hospital Delaware and has special interest in advocacy. Dr. Jones has served as Co-Director of the APECX (Anesthesiology Partnerships in Education, Collegiality and Excellence) Committee at Nemours Childrenâ€™s Hospital (NCH) Delaware and has been involved in pipeline programs for the recruitment of under-represented minority high school and college students into healthcare-related careers for over a decade, as well as mentoring Residents and Medical students from under-represented groups. Her outreach work with Nemours takes her to her native country of Jamaica, where she has led the Anesthesiology team since 2018 at the Bustamante Hospital for Children performing Living- Related Donor Liver Transplants for pediatric patients from Jamaica and the Caribbean, who would otherwise succumb to the effects of end-stage liver disease. She is Vice-Chair of the Credentialing Committee at NCH Delaware, and serves on the Committee on Admissions at the Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Sapna Kudchadkar is the Anesthesiologist-in-Chief of the Johns Hopkins Children's Center and Vice Chair for Pediatric Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is a professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine, pediatrics and physical medicine and rehabilitation at JHUSOM. Her areas of interest include sleep disturbances in critically ill children, pediatric delirium prevention and management, sedation of mechanically ventilated children, pediatric ICU rehabilitation and mobility, and clinical epidemiology and biostatistics. Dr. Kudchadkar received her undergraduate degree in both biochemistry and French at Washington University in St. Louis, where she graduated magna cum laude. She went on to attend University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where she earned her M.D. and completed an internship with the Open Society Institute Soros Community Health Program. She completed residencies in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Children's Center and in anesthesiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by clinical fellowships in pediatric critical care and pediatric anesthesiology. Dr. Kudchadkar received her PhD in clinical investigation at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her primary research focus is the integration of sleep promotion, sedation optimization and delirium prevention to promote early mobility and improve functional outcomes for survivors of pediatric critical illness. Dr. Kudchadkar is the lead PI for the international PARK-PICU study (Prevalence of Acute Rehab for Kids in the PICU, park.web.jhu.edu), which includes >200 sites in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Europe and Australia. She is also the lead PI for an NIH funded 10-hospital stepped-wedge cluster-randomized trial of a multifaceted early mobility program for critically ill children (PICU Up!; NCT04989790) and MPI for an NIH-funded multicenter randomized trial investigating physical rehabilitation and nutrition in pediatric ICU patients (PROXIMUS; NCT05296096) In April 2013, Dr. Kudchadkar was awarded the Alfred Sommer Scholar award at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, given to Ph.D. candidates "who exemplify scientific excellence, energy, ambition, political acumen and a determination to change the world" through public health research. In 2025, she was the recipient of the Drs. Vidyasagar and Nagamani Dharmapuri Award for Excellence in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine from the Society of Critical Care Medicine and also received the 2025 Sean Berenholtz Award for Quality and Safety from the Armstrong Institute. Dr. Kudchadkar is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the Senior Associate Editor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She also serves on the international advisory board of the Lancet Child and Adolescent Health.

Dr. McGovern is a graduate of the Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science of Biology and Psychology, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she obtained an MD, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she obtained a Master's in Public Health. Dr. McGovern completed pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and general anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She then returned to CHOP and completed fellowships in pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric anesthesiology. In 2019 she started as an attending physician in the divisions of CHOP pediatric critical care medicine and general anesthesiology. In 2020 she joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pediatrics. Dr. McGovern also serves as the Medical Director for the Pediatric ICU Procedural Sedation Service at CHOP. In collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in pediatric anesthesiology and critical care, she has developed a niche is pediatric airway management, including difficult airway management and airway education and quality improvement efforts. She is chair of the CHOP PICU Airway Safety Committee and a member of the Anesthesiology AirEquip difficult airway group. Dr. McGovern has developed and is studying novel approaches for pediatric airway management education in order to improve intubation safety in the PICU, including strategies for tracking pediatric intubation skill performance over time, identifying gaps in intubation skills, and developing interventions to improve skills deficits. Dr. McGovern is also responsible for numerous quality improvement intitiatives related to procedural sedation in the pediatric ICU.

Peggy P. McNaull, MD, serves as System Chief Medical and Quality Officer for UNC Health, a position she assumed in December 2024. In this capacity, she oversees quality and patient safety across UNC Healthâ€™s 20-hospital system, with responsibility for advancing high standards of care throughout the organization. Before joining UNC Health in this role, Dr. McNaull served as the Frederic A. Berry Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia and as Professor of Pediatrics. She began her healthcare career as a nurse and, after earning her BS from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in Atlanta, practiced as a registered nurse in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. She continued to serve as an RN while earning her MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. McNaull completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of North Carolina, where she was Chief Resident, followed by fellowships in pediatric anesthesiology at UNC and pediatric cardiovascular anesthesiology at Texas Childrenâ€™s Hospital in Houston. Dr. McNaull is nationally recognized for her expertise in pediatric anesthesiology and for her leadership in advancing high-quality, safe patient care. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiology and is currently President-Elect of the organization. In addition, she serves on the boards of UNC Rockingham and UNC Health Alliance. Bio

Dolores B. Njoku, MD, is the Wise Professor and Vice Chair of Anesthesiology, and Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis. She is an adjunct Professor in Pathology and Immunology at Washington University in St. Louis and Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Njoku received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi and completed a residency in Pediatrics at Rainbow Babies and Childrenâ€™s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where she served as Chief Resident. She completed a residency in Anesthesiology and fellowships in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pediatric Critical Care at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and was full-time faculty from 1997 â€“ 2021, where she served as Program Director for the Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology from 2007 â€“ 2018 and completed the 3rd River Servant Leader training program. In July 2021, Dr. Njoku joined the faculty at Washington University in St Louis. Dr. Njoku is an internationally respected educator and translational researcher in immune-mediated liver injury and focuses on mechanisms that initiate immune-mediated liver injury and the role of sex and gender in the severity of this process. She is the Pediatric Anesthesiologist-in-Chief of the St. Louis Childrenâ€™s Hospital, a member of the Department of Anesthesiology Promotions Committee, Chair of the Childrenâ€™s Hospital Medical Executive Committee and a Faculty-at-large Representative for the Washington University in St. Louis Faculty Practice Plan and Faculty Practice Plan representative to the Executive Committee of the Faculty Council. She is a nationally recognized educator and lecturer. She serves as a member of the ACGME Review Committee for Anesthesiology and a Full Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology where she serves as Chair of the Standard Oral Exam. Dr. Pasquariello is a pediatric anesthesiologist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Pennsylvania and remained on Penn's campus to complete a pediatric residency at CHOP, followed by a residency in anesthesiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and finally fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at CHOP. Dr. Pasquariello spent a decade at St. Christopherâ€™s Hospital for Children, where she worked as both a pediatric intensivist and anesthesiologist, and concentrated her efforts on pediatric liver transplantation, pre-anesthesia evaluations and latex allergy. She then returned to CHOP Anesthesia and took on a leadership role in Perioperative Services. As Associate Clinical Director and Chief Anesthesia Board Runner, she played a key role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of daily OR operations, while serving as a trusted resource to pediatricians, surgeons, and families. Dr. Pasquarielloâ€™s recent efforts have centered on the development of stronger systems to support both patients and care teams. She has led countless quality improvement projects, which have resulted in improved perioperative efficiency, patient safety, and collaborative perioperative team dynamics. She led the creation of the "Anesthesia/Sedation Preoperative Care and Inpatient Preparation Clinical Pathway", a collaborative project that guides the safe preparation of inpatients for anesthesia. Dr. Pasquariello co-led CHOP's initiative offering flu vaccines to children undergoing anesthesia or sedation throughout the CHOP enterprise, including the main operating rooms, ambulatory surgical centers, all radiology locations, oncology and GI clinics and other areas where anesthesia and pediatric sedation services are provided. In the 2024 flu season, nearly 2,000 children received the flu vaccine painlessly. She also established the Anesthesia divisionâ€™s wellness program, which has blossomed into a multi-faceted program, grown through collaboration into a strong initiative focused on advocating for colleaguesâ€™ wellbeing in a high-acuity, high-responsibility environment. Whether leading process improvement efforts, mentoring colleagues, or organizing community outreach, Dr. Pasquariello is driven by a belief that meaningful change happens through collaboration.

She graduated with distinction from University of Wisconsin in Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacology and toxicology. She then received her medical doctorate at Rush University. Afterwards, she completed residency at Baylor College of Medicine, where she was honored as an outstanding resident in pediatric anesthesiology. She completed fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Childrenâ€™s Hospital Los Angeles. She has 10 years of clinical experience in the perioperative management of complex pediatric patients. She believes that all patients deserve the best care, and has dedicated her career to quality improvement. She has Advanced Training in Quality Improvement from Intermountain Heath, and is the educational director of Wake-Up Safe, a national patient safety organization dedicated to improving pediatric anesthesia outcomes. Dr. Patel also believes in improving the patient experience, and including patients and families in their perioperative care plan. She practices acute pain management. Dr. Patel loves learning about different cultures and values her experiences in medical missions. She has done medical service in Mexico, Dominican Republic, China, Vietnam and Bangladesh. In her free time, Dr. Patel enjoys hiking, traveling, food, and spending time with her husband and doggie. David M. Polaner, MD, FAAP is Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and attending pediatric anesthesiologist at Seattle Childrenâ€™s Hospital, where he is on the complex airway and transplant teams. Dr. Polaner received his undergraduate education at Yeshiva University and his MD from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, both in New York. He trained in pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Seattle Childrenâ€™s Hospital, and in anesthesiology at University of Washington. Following a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology and critical care at Seattle Childrenâ€™s, he was a research fellow in Warren Zapolâ€™s laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was appointed to the faculty of Harvard Medical School and subsequently became Director of Pediatric Critical Care at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston before moving to Denver in 2000. There he was Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the University of Colorado and Director of Transplant Anesthesia and Chief of the Acute Pain Service at Childrenâ€™s Hospital Colorado. Dr. Polaner moved to Seattle in 2019 to assume his current position. Dr. Polanerâ€™s research and clinical interests are wide-ranging, and include regional anesthetics in children, the pediatric airway, propofol infusion syndrome, anesthesia informatics, transplant anesthesia, and high altitude medicine and physiology. He is the co-founder of the Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Network (PRAN), co-director of the 6th through 8th International Symposia on the Pediatric Airway, and is co-Section Editor for regional anesthesia for the journal Pediatric Anesthesia.

Most recently he served as Interim chair of the Department for 2 years encompassing 7 hospitals, 130 Anesthesiologists, over 200 CRNAâ€™s and SRNAâ€™s, 55 residents and 25 fellows. This gives him a unique perspective on the organizational aspects of safety and reliability. Dr. Ririe received his undergraduate degree and MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his PhD in Molecular Medicine from Wake Forest University, and his MHA from Louisiana State University. He completed his residency training in Anesthesiology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina and his fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia at Boston Childrenâ€™s Hospital. He has been dedicated to quality and safety in the perioperative environment. He is also an NIH funded investigator in basic and clinical science at the Pain Mechanisms Laboratory at Wake Forest University. His research focuses on central and peripheral processing and circuitry modulation in the transition from acute to chronic pain and in resolution of pain and disability after surgery. He also has a focus on developmental neurobiology of stress, inflammation, and nociceptive input from surgery as it relates to learning, attentional dysfunction and reward processing. Dr. Ririe has given numerous presentations at regional, national, and international meetings, and he has authored many scholarly publications in journals such as the Anesthesiology, Anesthesia and Analgesia, and Pain. He has been actively involved in mission work throughout his career and has been recognized for his contributions to teaching as the recipient of the Golden Apple Award for teaching in the Department of Anesthesiology. He has been involved with training more than 600 residents and fellows in clinical and basic science and has been a mentor for trainees and faculty.

Dr. Tan is Professor of Pediatrics at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University; and a Pediatric Infectious Diseases attending and Medical Director of the International Adoptee Clinic at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Childrenâ€™s Hospital of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. She is currently serving as the President of the Lurie Childrenâ€™s Hospital Medical/Dental Staff. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Tan is currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) after serving as President from 10/2024-10/2025. She is currently the Chairperson of the IDSA Coordinating Council and continues to be serve on the IDSA Board of Directors. She has served as the chairperson of the IDSA Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, Access & Equity (2017-2022), Chairperson of the IDSA Governance Restructuring Task Force (2022-2023), Chairperson of the IDSA IDWeek Program for Pediatrics, and a member of the Advisory Committee for the IDSA Strategic Planning Committee. Dr. Tan currently serves as chairperson of the: American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Global Immunization Advocacy Project Advisory Committee (GIA-PAC) and is a Technical Advisor for the AAP/CDC Global Immunization Advocacy Project. She has served as Chairperson of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Infectious Diseases (SOID â€“ 2014-2018) and as a member of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID â€“ Redbook Committee â€“ 2010 - 2018). Bio

Dr. Mihaela Visoiu is a pediatric anesthesiologist with expertise in perioperative pain management and pediatric regional anesthesia. Most of her clinical time is spent in the operating rooms, rounding on the floor, providing patient care, and teaching and supervising student nurse anesthetists, anesthesiology residents, and fellows. Dr. Visoiu collaborates with various surgical services to implement new protocols for postoperative pain control. In her research, she develops new techniques for the placement and use of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks in children, infants, and neonates and compares those techniques with established methods for pain control. Dr. Visoiu is interested in using clonidine as an adjunct medication for pediatric regional anesthesia and has investigated postoperative pain control outcomes and pain perception in teenagers and the transgender population. Her goals are to improve pediatric perioperative pain management, the safety of pediatric regional anesthesia, and family satisfaction with pain control. Dr. Visoiuâ€™s research has been featured on the cover of the journal Pediatric Anesthesia three times (October 2018, March 2019, and January 2022). Dr. Visoiu has significant experience participating in and leading multi-center clinical trials to understand the efficacy and safety of novel approaches to pain management and has extensive experience in managing large grant-funded projects. Dr. Visoiu worked with Dr. Sadhasivam as a coinvestigator in his NIH studies and will serve as principal investigator in a funded pupillometry NIH study. Dr. Visoiu is also interested in advancing pediatric regional anesthesia education by developing ultrasound regional anesthesia simulators. In collaboration with the UPMC Department of Radiology and the Swanson School of Engineering and Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh, she developed a neonatal ultrasound epidural caudal block simulator for single injection and catheter placement (U.S. provisional patent application, due for nationalization 04/2024). This simulator was featured by Pitt Fall Med Magazine 2023 in the articleâ€ Idea to Reality.â€ Dr. Visoiuâ€™s participation and leadership in the 28th Update Course in Pediatric Anesthesiology and High-Fidelity Pediatric Anesthesia Simulation Workshops held October 22â€“24, 2025, at ABC Medical Center in Mexico City, not only showcased her expertise in pediatric regional anesthesia but also fostered international academic exchange, advancing evidence-based practices in pediatric pain management. Samuel Yanofsky, M.D, MSEd. is a Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Medical Education at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where he attends at the Childrenâ€™s Hospital Los Angeles in the Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine. I am a graduate of McGill University, MontrÃ©al, QuÃ©bec (baccalaureate of science in physiology) and St Louis University medical school. I completed a residency in Anesthesiology at University of Connecticut Health center and continued with a two-year fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Childrenâ€™s Hospital of Philadelphia. I graduated with a Master of Science in Medical Education from USC Rossier School of Education. Presently, I am responsible for supporting faculty development within the department. I served a six-year term including being president of the Pediatric Anesthesiology program directors association within the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology (SPA). Within the Masters of Academic Medicine at USC Keck School of medicine program I am part of team of faculty training mid-level health care professionals in medical education focusing on leadership and organizational change. Presently, on a national level, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Society for Education in Anesthesia and I am member of the executive education committee for the SPA. In addition, I serve on the Womanâ€™s Empowerment Leadership Initiative steering committee designing the leadership curriculum to further promote woman in their career as leaders in pediatric anesthesiology within the SPA. Further, I have mentored in establishing the new physician well-being committee for the SPA. Veronica M. Zoghbi, M.D. is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Pediatric Regional Anesthesia at the University of Miami. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, followed by a Research Fellowship in Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Cornell University in New York, NY. Dr. Zoghbi subsequently pursued two years of General Surgery Residency and a Fellowship in Perioperative Safety and Management at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also served as a research fellow in the Departments of Surgery and Anesthesiology. Her research during this time focused on perioperative in-situ simulation, TeamSTEPPS training, and the development of non-clinical skills training for surgical residents. Dr. Zoghbi then transitioned to the field of anesthesiology, completing her residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She went on to pursue advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric Regional Anesthesia at Lucile Packard Childrenâ€™s Hospital Stanford, where she subsequently joined the faculty in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia. Currently, at the University of Miami, Dr. Zoghbi is committed to advancing pediatric regional anesthesia and enhancing patient outcomes through education and innovation. Her professional interests include AI tools in education, patient safety and quality improvement, green anesthesia, sustainability, and global health initiatives.
