Adopt A Local Charity

The SPA Committee on Professionalism and Public Advocacy (COPPA) committee adopts a charity that supports children's health and well-being in the area local to our meeting.  SPA/COPPA matches member donations, up to a maximum of $5K, with a goal of raising $10K for the charity.

Our charity in San Antonio is The Children's Shelter.  TCS provides trauma informed care to children and families, including foster services, and support service for parents and children.  

* TCS serves over 2,000 children per year
* In 2024, there were over 17,000 reports of abuse and neglect in Bexar County
* Every day, 5 children in Bexar County enter foster care due to abuse and neglect
* TCS provides education and support services for parents and families, including parenting classes and home visits
