Bio: Alpana Singh’s road to the top of her field was a whirlwind so it’s no surprise she is highly sought after as a dynamic and engaging speaker with a fascinating story to tell. As the daughter of Fijian-Indian immigrants she beat the odds and achieved her goal of becoming a Master Sommelier at the tender age of 26, the youngest woman and the only South Asian in the world ever to do so. She is the owner of Terra and Vine Restaurant in Evanston, Illinois. She is a nationally-sought after speaker where she offers her insight on grit and determination, the importance of mentorship, representation and inclusion and how anyone can become a wine expert.
For twelve seasons, she has served as the host of the Emmy Award-winning restaurant review television show, Check, Please!, on Chicago’s PBS station. Alpana has also established herself as a successful restaurateur, having owned three concepts, most recently Terra and Vine in Evanston. Civic engagement is equally as important to her. She played a significant role in bringing the James Beard Awards to Chicago and serves as the Treasurer for Choose Chicago, the Tourism and Convention Board for the City of Chicago.
