• Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Anesthesiology and subspecialty certification in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
• Active medical license and eligible for licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
• Eligible for privileges in pediatric anesthesia at Oklahoma Children's Hospital.

SKILLS AND RELATIVE EXPERIENCE
• Expertise in advanced practice anesthesia techniques, pain management, and pediatric patient care standards.
• Must be a visionary and strategic leader with a proven record as a problem solver and an ability to implement innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.
• Exhibits strong leadership skills and demonstrates competence in leading and delegating to a team with accountability and successful achievement of superior patient care, operations, and financial results.
• Continually seeks process improvement to bolster operational efficiency, financial results and patient satisfaction.
• Track record of building and maintaining positive and effective relationships and engagement with physicians, clinical staff and leadership.
• Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in pediatric anesthesia, with a proven track record of leadership or managerial roles.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically while remaining operationally and financially grounded.
• Prior service as a leader, with knowledge and experience in academic institutions, health centers, and teaching hospitals.
• Experience with meaningful contributions in academic medicine including research and/or education experience.
• Experience recruiting and retaining faculty within pediatric anesthesia.
• Strong mentorship skills and experience mentoring faculty and trainees.
Job Description:The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and Oklahoma Children’s Hospital is seeking a dynamic and accomplished physician to serve as Section Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology, with an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
The ideal candidate will be fellowship-trained in pediatric anesthesiology and demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and academic leadership. Candidates with a substantial track record in clinical education or research may be considered for senior departmental leadership roles.

The Section Chief will lead a multidisciplinary team of pediatric anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and resident physicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based perioperative care for pediatric patients undergoing surgery, interventional procedures, imaging, and pain management. The Chief will work closely with the Clinical Director to oversee clinical operations and collaborate with surgical, medical, and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes.

This role also includes a significant academic component, with responsibilities in graduate medical education (GME), undergraduate medical education (UME), and clinical research. The division currently supports one ACGME-accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship position.

The Section Chief reports directly to Kenichi Tanaka, MD, John Plewes Chair of Anesthesiology, who will provide support for faculty recruitment, development, and scholarly advancement.
